Portfolio

Hi!

I'm Wil Meade --
and this is the Porfolio for my Graduate Application.

Code Sample 1:

Code Sample 2:

To be honest, coding is not my strong suit. I've always been more big-picture oriented and better with drawing and storytelling. I enjoyed my work in my Computer Science major, but I'd like to work on more creative projects in the future.

These are my art samples:

This is the fourth and final project that I did in my 2D animation class! The professor asked us to transition a self-portrait into something that represented our inner self, so I chose to transition my avatar into a cartoon rabbit. This project excited me. There were lots of different directions we could have taken it, but I wanted to practice character animation, since I want to go into that field.

This is the third project I did for my 2D animation class. I first encountered "Rhapsody In Blue" in the Disney film, Fantasia 2000. It was an honor to be able to animate something to that piece of music.

These are the non-digital drawings I'm including. I took photos of them which I have used below. You can click on the images of the photos to make them bigger. Then I got them scanned using the large scanner at Staples. You can see those images by clicking on the links. The scanned pictures were lightened up considerably, but I still wanted to include them.

This is a two-point perspective drawing I did for Visual Foundations class. It was the first serious drawing I've ever done with ink pens. I was so focused on making it perfect that I thought I was going to get a bad grade in class. In reality, everyone was surprised at how good this was and said it was one of my best works they'd seen. My mom made a copy of this image to frame it. It's a special piece to me because it taught me not to underestimate myself.

This is a still life I did for Visual Foundations class. I put a lot of work into the glass just because it spoke to me while I was looking at it.

This is a bumblebee drawing I did for Visual Foundations class. I was excited to use my new precision eraser to add hairs to the bee with subtractive drawing. The larger scanned image didn't come out as neatly as I wanted even after some experimentation, but I think the smaller image still makes the shading clear.

This is a full-figure portrait I did in Visual Foundations II class. I used charcoal for this drawing. Charcoal isn't my personal favorite medium, but this picture ended up being one of my favorites. I think I achieved more realism with this drawing than my previous attempts.

This is a self-portrait I did independently over the summer. When I did my self-portraits in Visual Foundations II class, there was a lot I didn't understand about proportions. I wanted to redo a portrait with my new skills, and this was the result!
